From the golden sands of our coastline to the lush hinterland, there are plenty of stunning places to sit and enjoy a picnic in and around Noosa. Here’s 5 suggestions on some great spots to throw down your picnic blanket:

Noosa Botanic Gardens

Situated on the shores of Lake Macdonald, the Noosa Botanic Gardens offers eight hectares of native and non-native plant species and an abundance of wildlife. Perfect for a picnic with it’s serene water views over the lake, features at the gardens include large lawn areas with winding paths leading to picnic areas, a lily pond, dinosaur dig (kids sand pit play area), and more.

Facilities include picnic shelters, tables, toilets and drinking water.

Gympie Terrace / Noosa River

The foreshore of Noosa River along Gympie Terrace in Noosaville offers plenty of spots to soak up the river views while you enjoy your picnic. When you’re done eating you can let the kids play in Pirate Park or take a walk along the river bank.  There are also cafes and shops where you can pick up a hot coffee or cold drinks to go with your picnic spread.

Facilities along the river include undercover seating, shady trees, barbecues and public toilets.

Noosa Main Beach

Spread some towels or a picnic rug on the golden sands of Noosa’s Main Beach and enjoy a picnic by the sea. Best of all you can cool off with a dip at the patrolled beach or head to Hastings St and grab a refreshing gelato to top off your picnic.

Noosa Headland Noosa National Park

Set amongst towering hoop pine, blue gum, swamp mahogany, macaranga and pandanus trees, this shady day-use area offers impressive coastal views from Noosa to Cooloola. It’s also the gateway to several great Noosa National Park walks.

Facilities include tables, barbecues, drinking water and toilets.

Tewantin Splash Park

Located parallel to Noosa River next to the Noosa Marina in Tewantin, this enclosed splash park is ideal for younger children and they’ll have a ball running around as water shoots into the air from numerous different size fountains.  There’s also a small skate park next door.

Facilities include two picnic tables, shade and toilets.
